Travel Goals For 2017

As 2016 came to a close I saw one of my most exciting years in travel come to an end. You can check out my full post for my year in review with some of the crazy statistics and accomplishments during the year, but this post is to layout some of my travel goals for 2017.

Countries

My long term travel goal is to visit 50 countries before I’m thirty. While I am well on the way to accomplishing this goal, I still have to visit an average of about 4 new countries per year the next 3 years.

My current map of the countries I’ve visited

I ended 2016 strong by visiting 3 new countries on our end of year cruise, and I want to keep that momentum going in 2017. If I am unable to do my dream trip for 2017, I’d still like to visit Peru, Iceland, and Australia. If I end up visiting Australia, we’d probably try and squeeze a 3-4 day trip over to New Zealand too. As you can see from the map above, I still haven’t gotten to either South America or Africa, so visiting those continents is also high on my travel list.

Airline Travel Goals

Throughout 2016 we saw American Airlines go through a massive change in its loyalty program making it more middle of the road when it come to benefits of being a top tier member. In 2017 I’d like to maintain my American Executive Platinum Status, but I also want to branch out and try some new airlines like I have recently checking out Lufthansa First Class, Singapore Airlines, and Air Canada Rouge.

LH First Class Seat

In 2017 I would like to check out JAL and/or ANA’s first class or business class on a flight to Tokyo. Perhaps I can try Air France’s top notch Premier class. So basically I want to test the water to see what other airlines (and their loyalty programs) have to offer. I have been flying on American Airlines (US Airways) since I was 6 months old, so it has always been my go to.

Other Travel Goals

As I continue to develop my blog and launch Instant Wanderlust, the relationships I make with other bloggers, travelers, and you my audience become increasingly important. In 2017 I’d like to attend at least two travel related conferences. It would be amazing to get to go to TBEX for travel bloggers in Jerusalem, but there is also a North American version in Alabama this year. I plan on developing my video making skill set and hope to continue to bring you better and better video travel inspiration with every trip I take.

My sexy new camera Canon 5D Mark IV

I want to do more to not only inspire you to travel, but show you how its possible and help you do it! Santa brought me a ton of toys and tools to make this possible including a new camera, drone accessories, and the DJI Osmo Mobile. Today as I write this I am heading back down to Florida to begin our end of year cruise. I am very excited to see how all of these new tools will help me bring new amazing content for you!
