Chicago O’Hare to get 6th Runway

United Airlines, American Airlines and the city of Chicago have reach a $1.3 billion agreement for a 6^th runway at O’Hare airport. The project will increase capacity at O’Hare and complete the modernization process that began in 2001.

The deal does not come with any new agreements for terminal expansions or additional gates, so we will have to wait and see if the new runway will quell congestion and reduce delays. O’Hare is a hub for both United and American who have leases that expire in 2018. The new runway is expected to be completed by 2020.
